Wilson Palacios: The player Spurs need

February 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Wilson Palacios is determined to get Spurs into the top half of the Premier league following his positive start under Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp was pleased with his £14mln pound player’s contribution against Arsenal at the weekend.

And Palacios is keen to help Redknapp’s men climb from 15th in the table after the international break.

The performance he put against Arsenal bodes very well indeed. He adds determination and drive to a sometimes lacklustre midfield. His passion to play well and perform to his best for the club are both attitributes that White Hart Lane has lacked in a long while.

With Keane, Defeo and Palacios in the team I think the tired (lazy) performances which crept in around Christmas will be largely behind us. While, Captain Keane will be a key figure in getting the team playing well again, Palacios’s desire could also be vital to Spurs as they battle to move up the league and avoid relegation. As Redkapp desired Palacios adds steel to Spurs style.

Spurs 0-0 Arsenal (FULL TIME)

February 8, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Plenty of action but not many shots. A well fought battle but Spurs couldn’t capitalise. The best chance came in the last minute of stoppage time from Modric but it wasn’t to be. Keane worked hard. Palacios had a great game. Its one more point than any of the other bottom six teams but it should have been 3 points -at home against a ten man arsenal for most the match.

Keane says: “We didn’t take advantage of the extra man. We couldn’t break them down.

“It’s nice to be back.”

Palacios was man of the match.
