Spurs victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park yesterday boosts their survival chances and centre-back Jonathan Woodgate now hopes for a place in Europe.
Jermaine Jenas’ early header and Darren Bent’s second half tap-in dealt a huge blow to Aston Villa’s Champion league hopes but puts Spurs four points off seventh, and a place in the re-vamped Europa League next season.
Spurs have now taken 33 points from 21 games under Harry Redknapp.
Meanwhile, there is a chance that David Beckham could return home next season after Harry Redknapp today said he is prepared to offer the star a Premier League lifeline at Tottenham if his proposed return to AC Milan breaks down. Full story (Mirror).

Darren Bent has said he would take a role anywhere, even in a Hollywood film.
Bent stated he wanted to play regular first team football at Spurs or he would reconsider his future at the club last week. He has since showed signs of greater commitment to Spurs and positivity towards tommorrow’s UEFA cup tie in the Ukraine. Today, however he said that he would quit English football altogether for a move abroad ,if it promised him regular football.
He even noded to a move to Hollywood…. not to the MSL like Beckham but to the silver screen, following in the footsteps of his hero Will Smith.
Bent said: “The most important thing for me is playing football, wherever that may be….I wouldn’t let something stop me just because of location…It’s always nice to play abroad and experience different cultures.”
He continues: “I’d like to be an actor. I’d give it a go..I’ve made one or two phone calls and we’ll see what happens.”
Crikey! We knew that Bent wanted to play but we didn’t think he meant shakespeare. As for the reality however, we need him scoring to get us points. A win in Europe tomorrow would be a step in the right direction, despite Redknapp stating today that he didn’t consider tomorrow’s game that important. Hopefully Bent will perform on the best stage in the world tomorrow night…the FOOTBALL PITCH.

It seems that the Official site has nick-named Darren Bent “Benty” and Bentley “Bents.” Hardly breaking news but interesting to note.
Perhaps such an affectionate name means that “Benty” is happy at Spurs and plans to move are not really on the cards despite his public statement, well ultimatum on Friday – play me or I’ll leave he said.
Meanwile, “Bents” needs to pull his socks up and start performing, we are still yet to see the level of performance he reached at Blackburn Rovers which earnt him a couple of England caps last year.

Darren Bent thinks that it will be huge boost for the Spurs team if they can overcome the conditions in the Ukraine and beat Shakhtar Donetsk in Thursday’s UEFA tie.
The match is likely to take place in below zero temperatures – reports of up to -4 oC - in Ukraine but Bent claims the only way to start improving in the Premier league is start winning no matter where we go.
The Official Site quotes Bent saying: “This is another challenge for us, and going out there and getting a result in tough conditions will be a great achievement for us.”
